Lunch Time

A few have been asking about the food here in Nepal. I've decided to answer.
To be honest, I've been a bit disappointed with the food. I am a huge fan of Thai food, and Indian food. I assumed (incorrectly) that the food here would be similar. But its rather bland, and I'm not a fan of vegetables. Being a Hindu country meat isn't eaten as much. They don't use hot sauce, but they do use ketchup. I like ketchup, but not on this stuff. I do use hot sauce at home, especially on Mexican and Thai food and on oyster bombs at the original Colerain Skyline. Speaking of which, I think I left my heart there. Next time you stop in for a 3-way can you look for it, please? But here I just gotta eat it plain.

This was today's lunch. I was suprised to see chicken (kukhurahko mahsu). Not that its rare, but just not normal for lunch. I guess they treated me. There is also rice (bhaht), beans, a salad (the first one I've had since I've been here) and cauliflower.
If you will permit me, I'd like to talk about cauliflower. I dislike cauliflower. I feel that no taste is almost worse than bad taste and Cauliflower has no taste. And yet, because it has no taste, it really gives no reason to be disliked. You can't dislike something that isn't there. However, you begin to despise it. You don't know why you dislike it and it only creates a greater hatred to the point of despising it. It leaves you with a cold apprehension. You tend to hate things more and more when you realize that you don't know why you hate it. You don't understand it. You begin to fear it, and out of that fear comes hate. Cauliflower, I hate you and you give me no reason to hate you so I hate you even more for not giving me a reason!
Yet I eat it everyday.

Here is the aftermath of lunch. I topped it off with a banana. It all still left me dissatisfied. So I came back to my room, close the door and headed for my stash.

Mmmmm Donut Sticks. A 270 calorie gift from God. Thank you, God!

If you can get coconut milk and green curry paste, you should show them how it's done.

As far as cauliflower having no taste, that's why God made butter and salt!

I love cauliflower. Yummy! I just had a few oyster bombs on Sunday. Good stuff.
